About TapScore USA
What TapScore does
TapScore is an independent directory that reorganizes public EPA Safe Drinking Water Information System records so people can search by public water system, city, state, ZIP code, and documented contaminant category.
What TapScore does not do
We do not test household water, certify that water is safe, represent a utility, or issue EPA ratings. A historical violation can be resolved, and an absence of federal violations does not prove current tap conditions at a particular address.
Current dataset
The site currently uses the official EPA ECHO SDWA quarterly download for 2026 Q2, published July 9, 2026. We include active Community Water Systems and deduplicate enforcement rows to one record per EPA violation ID.
Read the exact methodology and source notes.
Independent and informational
TapScore is not affiliated with or endorsed by EPA or any water utility. For current advisories, contact the relevant utility or public-health authority. For a specific home, use an appropriately certified laboratory.
